With more than two decades of experience,
Dr. Mann is the leading expert for laser vein
treatment in San Diego.

As a fellowship trained vascular surgeon, he is uniquely qualified to provide his patients with the most technologically advanced vein care available anywhere.

Today’s varicose vein treatment options are simple, safe, minimally invasive and virtually pain free. Best of all there’s no down-time and many of the procedures are covered by medical insurance plans. Done in the office in less than an hour patients can walk out and be symptom free almost immediately.

Both the Endovenous laser (EVLT) and the R.F. Closure procedures are similar in their clinical applications. The former uses a laser fiber optic probe and laser energy to heat the vein wall while the R.F. Closure procedure uses a R.F. catheter and radiofrequency energy to heat the vein wall. Choosing to do either the Endovenous laser or the R.F. Closure procedure is based upon the specific needs of the patient.

You will receive the best laser vein treatment in San Diego at The Secret Vein Clinic.

We are providers for Medicare, MediCal, Tri Care and most PPO insurances, including Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, and United Health Care.

Endovenous Laser Treatment
for Varicose Veins (EVLT)

The EVLT™ Procedure (endovenous laser therapy) – has replaced vein stripping, the traditional treatment for varicose veins in San Diego. Vein stripping was a major surgical procedure requiring hospitalization, general anesthesia and several weeks of recovery time. During Endovenous Laser Ablation, the physician uses ultrasound technology to guide a thin laser fiber into the vein through a very small opening (puncture wound as compared to making an incision). Pulsed laser energy delivered to the diseased vein wall closes it off and eliminates backflow at the source. Only a local anesthetic is used to avoid pain during this procedure. Its main objective is to seal shut the Great Saphenous or the Small Saphenous vein – the two main veins that cause varicosities. Blood is then redirected into the deeper normal veins with no alterations in the venous return.

Walking immediately following the procedure is encouraged and normal activity can be resumed immediately. Patients are instructed to wear medical grade compression stockings for the next two weeks. However, strenuous physical activity such as aerobics should be avoided for two weeks. A follow up visit is usually scheduled within 7 -10 days. This laser vein treatment is highly effective, with a better than 95 percent success rate. Symptoms dramatically begin to resolve within the next few weeks and patients notice a significant improvement in quality of life.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is laser vein treatment?2025-01-07T20:03:17+00:00

Laser vein treatment is a minimally invasive procedure that uses laser energy to treat varicose and spider veins. The two main techniques are Endovenous Laser Therapy and R.F. Closure, which involves heating the veins with heat energy. These treatment techniques cause the veins to collapse, which then causes the body to redirect blood flow to other, healthier veins.

What is the difference between Endovenous Laser Therapy and R.F. Closure procedure?2025-01-07T20:04:00+00:00

Both of these laser procedures are highly effective for treating varicose veins, but they use different types of energy. Endovenous Laser Therapy uses laser energy to close off veins. R.F. Closure procedure uses radiofrequency energy but does the same thing, closing off the veins. Both procedures are minimally invasive, highly effective and require little to no downtime

Is laser vein treatment painful?2025-01-07T20:04:57+00:00

The majority of patients experience a slight discomfort during laser vein treatments. Local anesthesia is used to numb the area being treated. The procedures are designed to be quick and as pain-free as possible. After the treatment some patients feel a little soreness, which usually resolves within a few days.

How long does it take to recover from laser vein treatment?2025-01-07T20:06:03+00:00

Recovery is usually fast, with most patients returning to their normal activities within 48 hours. The use of compression stockings is important for healing and improving results. We provide all our patients with complimentary compression stockings after the procedure.
